Float Free is a light mapping installation. 8 meters LED strips covered on the wood structure displays the video of sparkling reflection on the river stream surface. LED strips communicated with Touch Designer by a DMX decoder, Touch Designer adjusts the video to an appropriate effect and maps the video to each pixel on LED strips. The wood structure is an half close installation which people can walk into a personal immersive space to see the shadow reflect on surrounding as time goes by.
The water flow will not stop flowing. Even if the water is gone, there must be something left here and deeper and deeper. Looking back at life, countless pass-by are nothing but shadows, but some people stay and deep in emotion.
Since water is a necessity for human survival, water is a key factor in human migration. Some migrations are caused by natural factors, some are human issues. In addition to water resources, there are many reasons for human migration. Immigration issues triggered by politics and religion have many examples in history, also the focus of the world in these days. For immigrants who immigrate to other countries, they travel across the sea to a new living environment and stay here, experiencing exclusion and integration. However, when everything polished and deposited by time, eventually becomes a mutuality, a culture.
